What’s is Quixtar?

Posted by Ally Chan on July 19, 2008

Had you heard about the story of K4(Carrefour) & K5 ? It’s something like changing our buying behavior from shopping in Hypermarket to another buying portal which you can earn your commission or PV. (actually what’s they mean by K5 is another MLM company) There is a group of people who like this story much …… but NOT ME! (maybe the speaker had a very poor presentation skills)

I had to clarify that not I against MLM. In fact, I also involving in MLM business, which can double my time, double my income, and bring me a residual income.

I had been invited to a Business Opportunity presentation by a friend on last Sunday (13th July 2008). This presentation began with sharing the content of the book “Prosumer” by the speaker. Then speaker started brain washing the audience with the concept of “Prosumer”. (I can said that his skills is damn poor) He used the example of K4(Carrefour) & K5 into this scenario. The K5 he means here is Quixtar.

What is Quixtar? (This is the version given by the speaker)

Haha, this is the interesting part. He told us that in 1999 Bill Gates from Microsoft found that the biggest market in the world is “White Petrol” product – daily living goods like toothpaste, shampoo, soap, detergent etc. So, Bill Gates planned to diversify into this industry. Microsoft had come out with a software solution and invited IBM as their hardware partner to develop this “White Petrol” business. Microsoft has the best software solution, and IBM has the best hardware, so they get another partner named Alticor to provide them the products. Then, this is how Quixtar is found.

Quixtar had developed North America but not in Malaysia yet. Alticor foreseen the market here, so Alticor had bought over 100% share of a local company called ‘A.M.W.A.Y’ (he even dares not to pronounce the name of the company).

What is Quixtar? (The true version)

Actually both Quixtar and Amway are part of Alticor Group of Companies.

Quixtar said that they are doing E-Commerce, it’s not like ‘Old method’ direct selling or MLM (this is what the speaker told me that day). In the simplest way for readers to understand, actually they are just something like selling AMWAY products using electronic media and named this portal as Quixtar in North America.

I wondering how come Microsoft and IBM had partnered for such special business and I don’t ever know. (cause it’s not in public news)

The true is Microsoft’s “official” relationship is that of a “consultant” to Quixtar and a “partner” to Fry Multimedia, NOT a “partner” to Quixtar. As usual, Amway/ Quixtar is just a “customer”- there is no “partnership” at all. IBM had no name here, maybe Amway /Quixtar is using IBM hardware as their server. If in this case, then Amway/ Quixtar is just IBM’s customer.

[ Information above are from http://www.cocs.com/jhoagland/ecom.html ]

(for your information) Fry Multimedia, Inc., a full-service interactive agency with headquarters in Ann Arbor, Mich., is working with Quixtar’s Internet Business Group to develop the technical back-end. Fry is a proven commercial site builder and Microsoft Certified Solution Provider, having developed numerous e-commerce sites such as the well-received destinations for Crate & Barrel, Godiva Chocolatier, Eddie Bauer, MSN Shopping and 1-800-FLOWERS.

So my dear friends, if anyone tell you about the story of K4 & K5 or tell you that Quixtar is owned by Bill Gates or Microsoft or IBM. I believe you can give them the correct answer. I believe Amway/ Quixtar ever say that they are partnership with Bill Gates or Microsoft or IBM, just some of their irresponsible Independent Business Owners (IBOs) told the wrong story.

For more further and detail information, I suggest you all read through the documents at the links below. You will found the lie and the truth of Quixtar. (again, Quixtar ever tell lie, but their IBOs told the wrong story)
