Today I have something to talk to you about that most Internet marketers DON’T like to talk about. But it’s extremely important that you address this issue head-on, or it can kill your dreams of success.

It was years ago now, but I can remember when I first got started online. Remember
it plain as day.

There was one word that threatened to kill every dream I had of being successful. I’d say successful online, but it really was bigger than that. This one word could have killed my success anywhere, doing anything.

Yes, it’s that serious.

The word is FEAR.

It’s a dream killer, no question.

What you need to understand, though, is why.

We’re all human, so we all feel human emotions. Fear is one of those. And when we try to do something we’ve never done before, like a start an online business, fear is a natural part of taking that step.

But it also can become a nasty beast that strangles every dream you have.

When most people start out in Internet marketing, no matter what their niche is, no matter what their product is, they fear:

* Making a mistake

* Losing money

* Being embarrassed in front of family and friends

* Not knowing everything they need to know

* Failing

And as crazy as it might sound, a lot of people unconsciously fear succeess. Odd, but true.

All of those fears are like road blocks. Without them you’d probably have a wide open highway right to what you want to
accomplish.

Now, I’m not saying all of those fears are unfounded. Some are real, and normal, and actually responsible.

Fact is, when you start an Internet business, you have to invest some time and cash. And there’s a real possibility you might lose some of that cash. That’s true for starting ANY business, not just an online one.

But what most of us tend to do is let those fears get big and mean, and keep us from doing what we need to succeed. That’s why fear is a dream killer.

When I first started, I knew nothing about business. I knew almost nothing about computers. I didn’t even really know what Internet marketing was. All I knew was that I wanted to change my life and my family’s lives.

So I took a step that scared me to death and started trying to learn and do and succeed.

Now I have a business most people envy.

I don’t say that to boast at all. I’m telling you that because I absolutely believe you can do what I did.

You’ll make mistakes. You’ll lose some investment now and again. Your friends and family might laugh at you, or tell you to get a “real job.” You’ll fail some.

And all of that is necessary if you want to be a long-term success. It isn’t fun, but it’s worthwhile. Looking back on it, I’m so glad I didn’t quit. You can feel that way too, if you’ll just take the first step and stick with it.

Like I said, though, we’re all human. Just hearing some encouragement from me probably isn’t enough, so let me give you some
practical advice to get past your fear.

First, make a plan. It doesn’t have to be formal. You don’t have to think of
everything. Just think about the big stuff:

* Your business model

* Your market

* Your product

* How you’ll get traffic

You don’t have to be the world’s expert on any of that!

One thing you can do is give yourself permission to mess up. I’m serious about that.

There’s no way you can know everything you need to know before you start.

If you try to learn it all, you’ll stay stuck in what lots of people call analysis paralysis. It could last a lifetime.

It’s smarter to get started and put your fear in a box.

It’s okay to be afraid, but remember that nothing worth doing ever feels completely comfortable when you start. Being successful on the Internet is no different.

So step out there boldly. Start simple, and focus your efforts on getting ONE product on ONE site to a profitable place.

Tell yourself that you can do it. Remind yourself that there’s no reason you can’t, because lots of other people very much like you have succeeded. Stop thinking about what can go wrong, or what you don’t know, or how it hasn’t worked before.

It can work this time. You can do better this time. You’re smarter than you were before, and you’ll get even smarter as
you go.

Once you do that, you’ll notice something. Your fear will start to melt.

And after you’ve sold your first product online, your confidence will soar.

Then, before you know it, you’ll be looking back like me and sort of laughing at yourself for being so afraid.

You may not believe that right now, but it’s the truth. I’d stake my reputation on it.

Good extension – If a person is surfing around looking for a site, and they know its name, most people will try .com. So, for the web site owner who wants their site to be found, the rule is: if at all possible, get a .com name.

Short – Less than 7 characters, ideally. A simple name will roll off the tongue more easily in conversation, look more professional, and have less chance of being mis-typed.

Easy to spell – Make sure it passes the phone test: if you were to say the domain name of your website to a friend over the phone, would your friend be able to spell it correctly the first time without your having to spell it for them? If not, you’ve failed the phone test and should likely try a different domain name. Also, be careful about double letters. Take CyberRadio, for example. Their domain uses a double R, as you might expect, but there is an uncertainty there. The two R’s together look a bit strange if written without capitalization, and a good name will not force the user to assume anything about the name. If you must have a double letter, the best solution is to buy both versions of the domain. Avoid using dashes in your domain name.

Descriptive – A good site or business name will describe exactly what the site is about. In most cases it’s important for a person to be able to get some sort of sense what the website is about just by reading the domain name. Of course that logic doesn’t work for sites like ebay, amazon, ivillage, etc, but then again you likely don’t have a multi-million dollar budget to help you brand your name and teach people what it means.

Keywords– Include descriptive keywords that describe your business, product or mission in your domain name. This will play a very small part, in some cases, in increasing your search engine ranking for search phrases that include the keywords used in your domain name.

• These are what you want your targeted audience type in search engine.
• Let’s think in the other way round, what you will type in the search engine bar if you want to look for similar product like what you are going to promote.

Step 2: Write Your Page Description

• 35 words / max 255 characters.
• Description is what is all about your website. You going to write a short and important description for you website by using your targeted keywords listed in step 1.
• Write your description with important keyword.
• REMEMBER. The first 60 characters are VISIBLE on Google. So, make sure you slot in your important keywords n the first 60 characters.
• Put your description in Meta Tag.

Step 3: Produce your Keyword-Rich Content

• Keep in mind, not that the more is the best.
• The best primary keyword density is not 3% > 5%.

• Try to maintain 5% density for your primary keywords.

Step 4: Design your Page Layout

• Your pages must be easy access by your visitor and search engine.
• Arrange your text, images, and multimedia files in a the way which the important messages are easy to SEE by the search engine and your site visitor .
• Sometime a picture does speak a thousand words for you, but too many pictures may lower down the loading time.
• Video introduction is one of the powerful in today’s IM.

Step 5: Develop your Links

• You got to develop 2 types of links for your website.
  • ONE Way link
  • TWO ways link

• One way links got higher mark in search engine compare to two ways links.
• Linking from higher PR page (PR3 and above) will increase you page value in the major search engine.
• Develop your One Way Links: I would suggest you to get a Link Submission service provider to submit build your one way link. They are normally charging for USD0.14 to USD0.20/link. The most important is this save a lot of your time. (try SubmitEgde or Directory Maximizer )

• Develop your Two Ways Links:
  • Search for blog / website which are similar industry with yours.
  • Create their link in your Partner Page or your Blogroll.
  • Drop the webmaster a simple email for link exchange invitation and tell the webmaster that you had already added their link in your site. Normally this will get higher percentage of return.

This is the theory of LINK EXCHANGE, it may be BORING TO READ, but it’s GOOD TO UNDERSTAND! and sorry, in order to make you have a clear picture of link exchange, this post has to be a bit long!

Let’s start here…

You may think you know what a link exchange is, but I’m here to tell you, there is quite a difference in the type I’m talking about here.

A “normal” link exchange is one where you place a bunch of cruddy banners or extra coding on your site. This will detract from the professionalism you’re striving to preserve. There’s nothing worse than having a big old ugly banner plastered across your web site. And if you have several, well, that just makes it that much more unprofessional looking.

A “real” traffic-pulling link exchange is one in which you solicit linking partners on an individual and personal basis to place their link on your web site if they will do the same for you on their own site. Or, simply asking webmasters to post a link to your site on theirs as both sites content will compliment each other.

The wonderful, crazy place we call “The Internet” really was built on the power of the link.

When you think about it, almost everything we strive for as online business owners hinges on the link. We want our link to appear in the top results of the search engines, in the prime spot on sponsored listings and in that huge newsletter. Our link is the ‘funnel’ that sends visitors to our site. No link, no click. No click, no visitor.

Web masters have always exchanged links with one another. In the days before search engines, this was done as a matter of course; and, most web masters would simply link to sites they found relevant and interesting without asking permission first.

Just posting up a bunch of links found at random on your web site providing more information about the subject matter discussed on your site isn’t really doing anything that beneficial for you in retrospect.

It is, however, for those site owners who’s links you’re putting on your site though. This is why asking them to post up your link in return for you doing so from your site is a better course of action to generate more targeted traffic to your own site.

That’s why today, business-minded website owners focus on two kinds of link exchanges:  reciprocal links and one-way links.

Reciprocal links = two websites link to one another

One-way links = one website links to another

Reciprocal linking became popular in the past few years due to its influence on Google’s “Page Rank” algorithm, which calculates the popularity of a site based on how many other sites link to it. The quality of these links has an impact on overall Google ranking.

In 2005, however, marketers are starting to move away from reciprocal linking (much of it’s original power has waned), and towards one-way links.

There’s a catch, though. It’s not like the old days when you linked to another site from you own. The focus now is on getting one-way links from other sites to your web site. In other words, getting the benefit of a link without returning the favor.

Again, a lot of this is about Google. Each time someone discovers a new loophole or method to higher rankings, everyone rushes to implement it, and they often do so incorrectly at that. Eventually, the combined effect of all these sites trying to skew the results..well, skews the results. Google closes the loophole and it’s back to square one.

This is what happened with reciprocal linking. Now, this does not mean that reciprocal links have no value. You want reciprocal links. They add to the mix. However, they simply aren’t as powerful as they once were.

As of 2005, one-way links now weight more heavily in calculating site popularity. The best advice I can give you is to implement a strategic mix of both types of links. Also, keep in mind that links are not the main variable influencing your search engine ranking.

The real traffic power behind links come from increased visibility across multiple traffic sources. If you can get a link to your web site from a site with more traffic than yours, then traffic to your site will go up accordingly. Best of all, that traffic is free.

The first step in participating in either type of link exchange is to do a basic search for web sites that would be complimentary to your own through any search engine you like.

Then, from those results, choose the closest matches to your own site content, find the site owner’s contact email address, and simply contact them about doing a link exchange with you. You’ll post their link if they will post yours. Feel free to use the email templates inside the Joint Venture section for this.

To build as much traffic to your site as possible, find as many relevant quality sites as you can and ask them to exchange link-for-link with you as described above as the “reciprocal” link. And, if you don’t get an answer from some of them, that’s all right. At least you made an attempt.

You took positive action to get the results you desired.
